Hey guys, stumbled upon this website from a link from vortex or some other forum, but im lovin it! so many beautiful cars, cars you wouldnt expect to be stanced, good vibe from peoples feedback, i see myself on here alot in the future. Now onto my story, my name is Jack, i live in prince albert saskatchewan, small town up here in canada. I hope other canadians chime in. In my area, province, country, you dont see much stance rollin around. Usual mods are sweet chrome rims, tint, altezza tails and fartcan mufflers, people dont know what im thinking, rolling around this low "its so impractical". I own a 2001 VW jetta, 1.8t. I rolled around stock status, trolled the tex for a looong time, decided, this was going to be the car im gonna dump money into. So far, ive only lowered it, on FK coilovers, i havent adjusted them yet, plainly because within a month our town will probably have 6 inches of snow, and debadged it. But i plan to put more money into it over the winter, add some power, some protection, buy some rims, and slam the crap outta this thing. I havent seen many dubs on here so i hope to see more on here! thats basically it for now, this is sort of my intro/build thread, ill update it over winter, once spring hits, but for now, comment, give me suggestions, whatver you want. Thanks!
the first two pics are stock mode + stickers

thanks guys, yes, it will be lower, even now, with the snow coming, i want to, but it'd look stupid on my 15's and balloon tires. i guess that just means ill always want it lower. i ordered my exhaust yesterday, today ordered some stickers off here and some other sites, save those up for when the car deserves it. i almost wanna get the car ready for stance before i even drop it, i know im going to have to notch the frame, its inevitible, and either remove my sway bar up front or get adjustable endlinks. other than that, over winter i have everything set out im going to order and ill update when my stuff comes in!

Nice to see more VW's on here, mk4 jetta's are so nice, classic styling and look so good lowered. Looking forward to seeing your progress. What kind of FK's do you have? I just ordered streetlines to replace my racelands. Keep up the good work.

i have streetlines, i got mine on sale up here in canada from calgary, super good set, not bouncy at all. youll like em, i hear theyre worlds better than racelands, not much more in price either. theyre stiff, but you gotta pay to play. its not jarring, feels about as stiff as my stock miata suspension, but thanks, i hope i dont let you guys down hahah

Thanks for your input emkay4! You wont let anyone down, mark4's look so good with a nice drop and a good set of wheels! What kind of wheels are you interested in? (staggered, monoblock, 2-pc,3-pc, oem, or oem from another brand)?? Some benz wheels would look the buisness!

well this car is the first car im going to really put money into, so the first set of rims im gonna get will be reps, the way i see it, if im lowering my car as much as i want, sometimes i get stupid and forget to worry about dips and bumps in the road, i dont want to eff up a pair of 2 grand wheels you know? but its funny that you say that cause im looking into a set of reps, ill throw up the link, the first set are the ones i really have my eyes on, and then the other is just a feeler. let me know what you guys think!
first set are the carlsson replica, found on some mercedes
https://pgperformance.com/popup_image.php?type=D&id=17138
second set i dont much about, seen em on merc's but dont know the name
https://pgperformance.com/popup_image.php?type=D&id=17140

i really like the first set. i originally wanted a set of aristos, but couldnt find anything, then found these, its like the aristo, but with lip! hahah

welcome!! i live in Manitoba and the stance scene is starting to pick up here, but there will always be haters. lol. with all the stanced mk4's around, you will notice that there is potential with your ride, man.

Those are nice man, I looked into the carlsson reps, but the sawblades just fell into place, plus I wanted to refinish them myself and have a polished wheel. Try www.powerwheelspro.com (http://www.powerwheelspro.com) they have reps at a good price and are reputable amongst vw owners. The Carlssons would fit the bill of your ride, the other ones are too busy, I do like them. but not my taste. Shop around or try and find some deals on some used benz wheels. Vortex always has some wheels floating around, cheap and expensive. Next for me will be some BBS's RS, goin big! Have fun man, cant wait to see the progress.

ya, ive checked vortex, its so tough bein in canada, the carlssons are pretty much what im going to get, and it helps that i can get them in BC, no border crossing fee and that crap, thanks for the link though, they got some good stuff

so sort of an update, my credit card has been charged for my stickers i got off here and juststance, and my exhaust from 42draft designs, pretty pumped, but i gotta say, shippin up here from usa has been quite the ordeal, stickers still havent arrived from last week being ordered, and 2 week wait on my exhaust cause it had to be built, not complaining though! ill post pics once i get stuff! god damit the more i look on here the less and less low my car seems.

Clean MK4, with the right wheels, your car will look great, maybe 9 or 10 wide wheels, add a GLI lip and call it a day, can't wait for whats next.

another small update, as of october 23rd, we officially have snow here, earlier than usual, but that just means itll leave earlier, ill post pics once my winter status is all done, gotta replace a POW of war (mudflap) lift up the coils, anti-seize the sh*t outta them, and slap on the steelies, put on the roof rack and ill be good. so far i know, im getting a skid plate mid winter, mk4's oil pans are known to be wimps, even ice chunks can crack these things! so even lifted up ill drive easier with a skidplate. updates comin soon!

alright guys, its been a while, so over winter i acquired some 17" VW santa monica wheels, 10mm spacers up front, none in the back (yet), got my old purple tint taken off and all the windows re-done. I installed my dogbone bushings last week in preparation for my turbo-back exhaust going on in the next coming weeks.
