The other day I did some minor detailing on my car thats for sale. I used some basic Armor All car wash, dryed it with an Absorber, claybarred it with a Meguiars claybar kit and then sealed it all up with some Zymol wax 8-)

Meguiar's is good for off-the-shelf stuff but, I am really enjoying Menzerna products right now. Their polish is insane. I just got a Porter Cable kit from Detailer's Domain and have yet to get it out of the box and try it out. A good kit will run a guy around $350-$400.

anyone try the meguiars DA polisher yet? im debating between that and the porter cable, kinda leaning towards the meguiars because of the new features.

as for tire shine, i prefer gel over spray, i feel theres a little more control. i been using this for a couple years http://image.customclassictrucks.com/f/miscellaneous/meguiars-hot-shine-gel-kit/18013297/meguiars-hot-shine-tire-gel-kit.jpg

This stuff is good for TAR, GUNK, STICKY stuff. I like to use it when you open your door on the hinges its all dirty just spray some on and clean it with a detailing brush and when done cleaning it you must put WD-40 to gerease them because it removes grease too. Also what i use it for is cup holders when you have sodas it leaves it al sticky and nasty this stuff cleans it up good

We have a winnner!!!!!

A few years ago my previous car won a photo submission contest on a forum I was on that was being hosted by TurboWax (http://www.TurboWax.com) and I won a slew of goodies from them. Stuff lasted me a little over a year or more, but when I was cleaning out my trunk to trade my car in I pretty much chucked all of my car care stuff because most of it was was used up anyways. I'm looking to purchase a complete "kit" here soon so I can keep the new car nice and shiney, but I just haven't decided who I wanna go with just yet.

@OSS I buy a bulk of my products from ADS (http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/), AutoGeek (http://autogeek.net/) and US Plastic (http://www.usplastic.com/)

@Evil, that was right after I moved into the new place. My garage is far from that neat anymore.

If anyone hasn't already, I highly recommend clay barring your car. It takes a lot of time but leaves your car a smooth as a baby's bottom after cleaner and sealer wax as well as helps remove the contaminants from your car's paint.

Meguiar's and mother's makes a kit. Either is good, I personally use mother's though.

Both have a "consumer safe" clay bar kit. But if you are an avid detailer I would suggest a more aggressive clay bar:

http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_d ... =MEG+C2000 (http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.asp?T1=MEG+C2000)

^This is what I use which is more aggressive and you get more for the money. The clay bar kits you get at autozone and what supply 2 small bars which wont last long. Remember, if you drop clay bar then THROW IT AWAY! Don't ever reuse a clay bar that was dropped on the ground. Also make sure to clay the car in perpendicular lines, don't ever clay your car in circular motions as you would wax. Use plenty of lubricant and do not push the clay into the clear coat, allow it to glide over the paint and let the clay do all the work. If you don't use enough lubricant and you apply to much force you could mar the paint/clear coat.

Right now, I use Meguiars Gold Class shampoo (but I'm looking for something with more suds), MF sponge, grit guards, and a big blue waffle weave MF towel. Most of my drying is done by leaf blower. I've been using BlackFire auto clay to remove contaminants with positive results. Depending on what needs to be done, I have used a number of Menzerna's polishes--Intensive Finish, Super Finish PO 106 FA, and Final Polish II. I finish it off with Menzerna's Final Touch Glaze and FMJ sealant. My PC7424 and Lake Coutry pads have worked well for me and my car. I usually wash my car every week, so soap and water is always more than enough to keep my wheels clean. I've still got a lot to learn, but I'm usually pretty happy with my results.

I've had great results with Dr. Colorchip, but results vary from color to color.

Ok, so that Eagle One "Easi-Dry" car wash has got to be the worst wash I have ever used. I washed my car the other day in one of the car wash stalls in my town with it, and to make a long story short, I wound up having to spend an extra hour afterwards with a bottle of Meguiars Quick Detailer & a microfiber towel scrubbing all the water spots off. I washed it in the shade, and it even specifically tells you that "no drying is required". I then proceeded to drive about 10-15 miles into town to run some errands (thinking the fast moving air would take care of drying it off even better), and low and behold when I got to Wal-Mart, my car had had horrendous amount of white water spots ALL over it. So I completed my errands and went back to the car wash stall and basically re-washed it with the quick detailer/microfiber towel. :violin:

I usually claybar my car(s) 2-3 times a year. I should probably do it more often, but man oh man do I love the feel of a freshly claybarred/waxed car. I remember the first time I did it I nearly jizzed in my pants running my fingers across the surface of my car.

OSSHWA, I never drive my car while it is wet. The water will catch all the dust/dirt in the air. Once the water evaporates, the dirt will still be on the paint.

Who here uses a foam gun to soak their car? I've used a couple different shampoos, but none of them gave me a thick lather. Is a pressure washer and foam cannon the only way to get some thick suds to safely lift and remove dirt without marring the paint?
