It started as a base model Sunfire

I bought it after the motor swap and front end conversion were done, but I didn't like the body kit so I decided to change it up and go back to stock Cavalier parts in the front and make some headlights that actually light up the road. I think It cleaned up the look of the car and makes everything flow smoother and the lights are just different than anything i have ever seen. I have seen a few Cavs on here so i figured i would post up my J body and join the club.
This is pretty much how it was when i bought after i put the lights in.

This was after I changed back to stock body panels and put the 18's on

Lowered it a little but couldn't go much lower because of the crazy lip on the inside of the fenders

Last night we rolled the fenders and I got talked into lowering it all the way down, I think i will leave it.

This one is just to compare with a stock height Cavalier how much lower it actually is

I need some spacers for the rear but it is still a work in progress, it might eventually get painted all one color again but you know how it is when you are a poor college student. Thanks for looking, I am always open to suggestions that would make the car better so let me know what you think.

I have been doing some more searching and have decided the cheapest option for suspension parts are for a '02-'05 Civic and because the stock parts are shorter than mine the coilovers should let me get stupid low. Small update on the car, I sold my wheels because I wanted something different. I didn't know what but I wanted something well after looking around on the internet I decided wide steelies would go pretty well with the flow of my car so 15x10 is what I decided for the rear. I just started on them today and got one mocked up. They still need some cleaning up, paint and I need to throw them on a lathe to make sure everything is squared up before I weld them but its a start.

why would you go with another cars suspension when we have plenty choice of our own?

I made some progress a couple weeks ago when I was on break from college. I moved the lower front strut mount up on the strut body to allow some more travel and lower ride height, and while I had the mounts off I put some more adjustment threads between the ones on the top and the now higher bottom mount and also installed stiffer springs. I don't have a picture of the extra adjustment threads but I cut them to length and installed them before I welded the lower mount in place.

Just a close up of how far I moved the mount up.

I also did some cleaning of the wide steelies, they still aren't finalized as to backspacing or offset but that is my project for christmas break in a couple weeks after finals. I might try to polish them I don't know for sure.

This is how it sits now need to pull the rear fenders to go lower in the rear, and I just put on a skid plate to save my oil pan from breaking on the high spots in the road because with my new modifications I can go almost 2" lower all around.

Small update. I have 2 wheels now and the easy part is over. I still need to finalize the back spacing on the wheels and square them up. Its coming together slowly but is working out just how I thought it would. Here are a few new pics I'm still trying to figure out if they need to be moved in a little or if I can make them work with the backspace that's on them now. If anyone has any ideas let me know what you think because I have never done this before.

I'm not going to give up on the wheels, I'm actually kind of excited to get them done. I think there are some 15x8" wheels out in the yard that I am going to use to make the wheels for the front. I will probably get started on them in the next couple days so when I start to get them squared up I can just do all 4 of them at the same time and be done. I probably wont be back in town until January but I might be rolling on my new wheels when I come back...maybe.
