We literally spent a good 30 minutes trying to think of a title for this feature when it hit us, The 808 Era! You’ve probably already noticed by now that Hawaii has been dominating this aggressive wheel fitment scene for the last few months with the help of guys such as Jonathan with his Honda S2000. Don’t get us wrong, Hawaii has been holding the game down for quite some time, but we’ve seen quite a surge of “well fitted” rides in these last few months. As much as you want to assume that Hawaii’s roads are all flat and free of potholes, you’re definitely wrong. It’s all about choosing and knowing your roads, accepting the fact that sooner or later that front lip or bumper will be torn away, and lastly, having the cojonas. Corny? Maybe, but every Hawaiian will tell you the same thing.

Even though we ended up waiting a couple of weeks for Jonathan to get some fender work done and get his new wheels mounted, the wait was so worth it. We were honestly in awe when our photographer Emil sent us over a set of pics from the shoot. As good as the location, timing and pictures were, the car itself was just stunning. From the flawless Lexus IS green paint, down to it’s damn near perfect wheel fitment. Little about that paint by the way, when Jonathan purchased this S2k a couple of years ago it was actually Silver. He painted the car himself, and we must compliment him on that.

As always, what we love seeing the most on all the cars that we feature is their fitment. Jonathan dropped his ride on a set of Skunk 2 coilovers and added the cusco x brace. He opted out of getting any camber kits as the camber he achieved from the extreme drop satisfied him. His wheel of choice were the polished set of VarrsToen ES 2.2.1’s in 18×9.5 (+10) fronts and 18.×10.5 (+10) rears. He also mounted on 215/35/18 front and 225/35/18 rear tires as well. Results are just incredible, take a look for yourself and hit the Read More button below for more awesome pictures.

Other then the paint, most of the modifications to the exterior are pretty simple. Up front you’re looking at the Mugen front lip that sits less than an inch off the ground. Both front and rear fenders were pulled, rears 3 inches and fronts 2 inches. One of the cleanest pulls we’ve seen in a while…

You’ll notice in these pictures that on the inside you can see a pair of Bride Low Max seats with gradations Takata harness, and a Cusco 4pt roll bar. Under the hood Jonathan threw on the Comptech headers, RSR test pipe, AEM v2 cold air intake, Exedy clutch and a 13lb fly wheel. Pretty hot ride all around if you ask us! Must be nice driving around on those hot summer nights with the top down.

Check out a couple of these up close shots!

We would like to thank Jonathan for his time and the opportunity he gave us. Also, a huge thank you to Emil Corpuz for delivering some stunning photos! Jonathan also wanted to give a shout out to his girl Karen and baby Alina, as well as the crew at DentDoctors Hawaii for the help and support. Be on the lookout for more pictures of this S2K in a couple of weeks as Emil pretty much covered every inch of it! Make sure you shoot us an email if you think you have a ride worthy of being on our site! As always guys, we’ll leave you with a couple more awesome photos and aloha!
