Everyone has their own ideas and opinions when it comes to building a car. Obviously the variation of styles and purposes are endless and the paths we choose are unique to every one of us. There will be disagreements and criticisms among enthusiasts, with equal quantities of fans and dissenters. Your family and friends may disagree and often new friends are made as our tastes evolve. Unfortunately the ugly, negative commentary often shrouds the inherent beauty of this hobby and a key element — individual expression.

It all begins when you select your car, your canvas. There are already numerous factors like your budget, overall purpose, and personal taste. On top of that your peers and the general opinion of certain models can affect your selection. Ryan Arya considered each aspect before deciding to help forge a frontier on building a newer-model car, picking a G37 Coupe instead of its heavily popular predecessor – the G35. The G35 would’ve been easier, with plenty of quality builds already existing, the trial and error has already been executed by a community of individuals. Personally, I prefer the latest styling cues from Nissan/Infiniti with the swooping lines and aggressive headlight detail. The latest iteration of the G-line evokes a much stronger impact than its product placement initially belies.

Ryan’s enthusiasm is rooted in lifted trucks and dirt bikes. In the early stages of his G37 project he was on a more traditional route of modification, and was new to the scene. However, he tells us he experienced what can be best described as a moment of automotive eureka when he initially discovered the low-slung stance and optimized wheel/tire fitment of this new breed of aesthetically-focused enthusiasts. The styling caught his eye and inevitably won his heart. He knew this was exactly what he wanted, though many of his peers disagreed — even calling him stupid. Arya found support and friendship with a newfound crew — Low ‘N Slow.

BC Racing coilovers are utilized sans coil springs in conjunction with UAS bags in order to provide the appropriate running gear for Arya’s G. The system is controlled via Accuair management while alignment settings are fine-tuned with a selection of suspension arms from SPC and Ichiba. Each of these components work in beautiful unison in order to fit the 20×10.5″ Work Varianza T1-S wheels at each corner. The square-fitment provides ample lip sizing at both ends of the car, featuring staggered offsets (-29 front, -45 rear) to achieve the right fit.

Of course, fitting those aggressive Varianzas required bodywork. Ryan’s car features a gorgeous all-metal custom widebody that delicately flows with the factory lines, which already lend themselves to a wide persona. The rest of the exterior modifications show an equal respect to the original bodylines as the custom work does. The front fascia was provided by AiT with sides from JP Visage. Fashionable with all generations of the G, the rear decklid is a Hikkatadori offering. Each aspect works well together. Blending the subtle approach with the powerful presence of a widebody produces an end result that is neither under- nor overdone.

It’s quite easy to sum up this build in two simple words — Ryan Arya. This car is him and he isn’t afraid to do exactly what he wants. Ryan tells us the G37 has a lot planned for its future, including some power enhancement though the jury is still out on which form of forced induction he will be going wtih. A rollcage and other interior accoutrement are in the works, the rollcage “just because.” When it’s all said and done, Ryan has created a beautiful car and has built it for all the right reasons. Like it or not you can find him perfectly content cruisin’ in his car, his style, just the way he wants to — Low ‘N Slow.
